OneBlade CORE

I have to say, using Tritan is an excellent idea.
I had been looking for something that would allow for very fast shaves without too much care and couldn't bring myself to get a cartridge razor. This seems perfect. Plus, I should be able to mod a GEM blade, should I need the longevity...

Hey James if you buy one and don't like it i'll take it off your hands.
Hi Mem, I must confess I do kinda miss my OB. It wasn't exactly earth shattering but for a mild problem free shave it always performed flawlessly.

Releasing the cheaper Core version is a very smart move by OB but it's still one of those razors which draws polarizing opinions. Before pulling the trigger, I'm interested in reading about the build quality.

I'm torn. I like the look of the SS OB, and the Core looks pretty good, but I've got enough DEs to see me through until they cart me away... Damn. It looks like I'll be ordering one. :banghead:

If it had "BIC", "DORCO" or whatnot written on the side (instead or OneBlade) it would cost $10.

Another issue with these guys is that (at least for the ss version) they only ship FedEx CONUS and/or International...
This translates to significant added pre-delivery costs in some E.U. countries, due to custom authorities involvement.

Not sure it'd be that much cheaper if it were made of Tritan, regardless of the brand name. Then again, with increased demand, it could be cheaper.

Customs fees and 'customs handling' fees are annoying, though. :-/ They always feel like extortion to me, even though I'm aware of at least a part of reasoning why they're there.

A thread here on how to adapt a Gem to fit the OneBlade:-
http://www.atgshaving.com/threads/gem-blade-modification-for-oneblade-razor.2612/

As one who has spent rather too much time mucking about with DE blades to fit Wardonias, Gibbs, Rocnels etc., I personally will be waiting for the new Gem-style razors to become available.
Back when I had an OB I just popped the GEM in without fussing around with modding. Worked just fine.

The reason I said PROBABLY in my response is that I haven't actually tried a GEM in this version of the OB (obviously), and I don't know what the OB guys may have done of minor tweaks that could potentially make it more difficult to use GEMs for whichever reason.
