The British Legacy, apparently we have all said or done:

If it’s chucking it down someone will
always say “Oh but it will be good for the garden though.

Saying “they won't sell many ice creams going at that speed” when they see an emergency vehicle with blue lights going.

I slap my thighs and say “right” when getting up from a chair ready to leave

Last night when I was walking the dog I saw a cat walk into the road and lie down. I said- out loud, in a public place, to an animal- "can't park there mate"

See someone washing their windows and tell them "You've missed a bit"
Also to anyone washing their car "You can do mine next"

‘It’s like Blackpool illuminations in this house’ to my husband when he forgets to switch the lights off in the hall and landing

Wandering around my garden in my dressing gown after I wake up with a mug of tea in my hand, inspecting my pot plants

I answer the door to people who are promoting or selling something because I feel rude if I didn't

I hold the door open for people then when they say nothing...I say out loud, you are welcome

Two classics : Drinka Pinta Milka Day! and That’s nearly an armful. I’m not going around with an empty arm

Good food doesn’t get much better than Stew and dumplings or steak and kidney pudding

It is class wars when you debate whether dinner was lunch, tea was supper and what the dickens count as supper

Some of these made me chuckle.

As someone from the NW, the Blackpool Illuminations thing was very common in my house growing up. My Dad used to use it all the time. Used to drive me nuts! That's and saying to turn off the 'big light' ! 🙂

Looks fantastic and the weather looked good too. Were the fish biting or was it just canoeing/kayaking (sorry not sure what the technical name is)?
There were professional, drift boats, the ones with lots of rocker out, but one guide said the trout were not biting much. This was the male grandchild's first solo and he navigated the rapids exceptionally well. He is the sort who does things and makes them look easy. He had better lines than me...LOL!!

We stayed in a cabin that was isolated and private. I brought the food for Friday evening supper and the family brought hambers and fixings for Saturday evening after the river trip. We had coffee cake for breakfast and finished off the return trip with lunch at Cracker Barrell. Cracker Barrel Old Country Store | Dine-In Or Order Online

Sounds excellent 👌. Nothing better than a family gathering especially when you share it with a great past time like that. Brilliant stuff 👍

P.s Are you the refined handsome man on the right of the photo 😉 ?
