Travel specific brushes

Hi guys, i travel a lot for work - and wonder what you guys do with your brushes?
I can see from other threads that a lot of you take your "regular" brushes with you, in small containers.

My question is, does any of you have experience with travel specific brushes?
Mühle Silvertip Fibre is one of them?

Tend to take whatever fancies me at the moment, but more often than not I’ll take a synthetic or a smaller badger. I don’t travel regularly, though.

I have a tube similar to above and have drilled holes in the top to let the knot breathe. Also, for longer hauls and/or when the brush will be in the tube for long, might be wise not to go for the Chubby or other natural, dense knots. I’m sure it’ll be just fine for the one trip anyway, but who knows what happens over time. And there’s a reason we put them to dry after use, isn’t there?

That’s what I do. I don’t use synthetics at home, but their quick drying property wins me over when it comes to travel. On my last trip I took a badger with me, but regretted it when I had to pull out a dank brush for each morning’s shave.

I found a synthetic or boar brush is best for travel for me. Both will dry quicker than a badger knot with the synthetic the best in that respect. I have three smaller travel specific brushes, Muhle synthetic, Simpson Classic 1 synthetic which comes with a case and an Omega Bigger Bambino boar brush. The only drawback is that the knots are smaller than I like to use. If space is not a problem, I'd sooner use a larger sized synthetic or boar bush in a tube. You can order tubes on the net or make your own from things like the right sized prescription pill bottle with vent holes drilled in the top.

If you want really compact you could consider this. The Omega fits in the case that came with the Simpson Classic 1 synthetic brush.

I use synthetics a lot at home, so just take one of those when I travel because they dry quickly. I don’t have a specific travel brush, they’re generally too small.

Yup, same conclusion I have come to after playing with travel specific brushes.

Likewise, I travel roughly 3 out of 4 weeks for work and gave up on the compromises of the small travel specific brushes.

In fact unless I am doing a brief overnighter taking a decent wash bag and stuff I like using is one of the few areas I don’t “travel light” on, preserving a bit of my morning ritual is one of the few consistencies I can strive for when I sleep in 3 different hotels a month! :)

Any decent synthetic brush should suffice, and as others have mentioned you can get plastic tubes to keep it protected, quick drying makes them ideal, personally I just take one of my Yaqi’s or RazoRock‘s as they are cheap and if my bag goes missing or anything gets lost / stolen I am not going to be too upset about an easily replaced and cheap synth.

I was considering the Muhle as well for travelling but I think I’ve decided against it because the handle is longer than I’d like. Synthetic fibers are a good shout though when traveling because of the quicker drying time compared to Badger, and the Muhle synthetics are top notch. I’m probably going to go with the Simpson Classic 1 synthetic and travel tube.
