Yeah, I think as to what Steve is alluding to, everyone's heads are different. Out of all my razors, the SEs have done the better job than any DE I've tried (Having said that, I haven't tried an expensive DE, just mid-priced ones, so not sure if pricier ones like a Lambda, as one example, would make much difference). It does seem like the width of the SE blade goes to waste on the head at first glace, and in some spots for me, it doesn't make much contact except for the small point of cutting, but for whatever reason, I can manoeuvre it easier than a DE. I also don't have a perfectly round head. A lot of the head shaving videos I watched on Youtube didn't apply to me as the razors that worked for those guys, don't work as well for me. The sides are pretty flat, so the AC does make a lot of contact there, and without mapping it out, there is also other areas where the blade makes more contact. After reading your posts elsewhere I see you only head shave.
I used the Paradigm SE earlier this week on my noggin and fail to see how a SE is any good for the head?
Far too wide a blade, or have I got a particularly round (fat) head..?
I don't know, everyone's head is different, and that's no problem, but it's harder to get a comparison when not as many people use an SE/AC for head shaving. At least with DE razors, more people seem to use them for head shaving, so going by that, I can get a rough idea of what it's going to be like. Of course, the you have the other factors such as skin sensitivity, efficiency, aggressions levels and all that, that are different for other people.
Can I ask what razors you use most for when you do head shaves? Maybe via PM if it's not appropriate to ask in this thread.
Hopefully it's OK to ask this stuff in this thread as I have been very interested in trying this razor. It's towards the top of my list (in the top 5 of stuff I want to try), but since it's brand new, I was looking to get some user feedback first. It's just being in Australia is harder due to 1. The Shipping costs, and 2. If a razor doesn't work out for me, I don't really have anywhere to resell it. From what I've found, there's not much of a second hand market here for high end razors (unless there is some marketplaces within AU I'm not aware of).
If I was in the US, EUR, UK, or CA, I'd have already bought this and at least tried it. Yes, I can't afford to buy expensive razors all the time, but if I could resell them if they don't work for me or suit me, then I'd have no problem trying different higher end razors on a semi-regular basis. I kind of wish I didn't get into this now as I didn't realize there's not a huge market here. I also wish there were some pass arounds here too, as I've love to also try something like the Atelier Durdan, Lambda, Wolfman etc. razors out before shelling out the money not having a clue how it would work for me. One person sold the Alpha Claymore Evolution a few months ago, but unfortunately I missed out. I went backup if the sale fell, though, but looks like the guy paid for it a few weeks later as part of the deal/arrangement.
