I don't want to wax lyrical about a razor that I've used twice.

But.....

I had my second shave with the Spirit this morning. Great shave! This is what I wanted the Vector* to be for me. I'm still in the honeymoon period but I'm impressed so far.

Good work Steve @AlphaShaving

*To clarify, I'm not ragging on the Vector. It's a beautiful razor that I wanted to love but I just didn't click with it.

3 shaves in and it’s clear this is a great daily driver. I’d probably recategorise it as a mild medium but more efficient than the Claymore, and a great razor if like me you have to shave daily. The head is just great, so manoeuvrable and easy to use in all those tricky places. I’m very impressed that 3 shaves in, that it feels like it’s always been in the den, a lovely comfortable shave that never feels like it’ll bite. The handle and balance really are spot on.

How are you finding it now? I'm in the same boat. I bought the Vector a few months ago and haven't used it much. Just doesn't work well for me. I'm not sure what to do with it as it's by far the most I've spent on a razor. I'm going to try and use it a bit more, but if it doesn't click, I'll have to try and see it as I can't afford to have something that expensive sitting around doing nothing.

Edit : I just read your previous post from a few days ago. What other AC razors have you tried?

I used a La Faulx a month or two ago and enjoyed that (+ plate).

OK, darn, you've tried a good number, so your opinion is based on quite a bit of knowledge and experience. Pretty awesome range you've tried there. You're definitely more than qualified to give comparisons. I would have actually definitely put my name in and bought the Alpha Spirit SE if I saw the release offer. I was just a little late seeing it and missed out.

And I just ordered the Shield AC1 to try as the last cheaper AC razor before trying something more expensive again. How did you rate the Avenger? And what did you think of the Romulus?

I tried to get the General V2 a while back, but they told me it's not being made anymore. I was also told by a couple of people on the another forum that the Stando Rod is quite good.

As for the Alpha Spirit, how did you find it compared to the La Faulx + plate (if I were ever to buy one, I was looking at the ++ myself)? I also have a friend on an AU shaving forum that just received the WR4 0.70 today. I'll ask him in a week or two how he likes it compared to his Vector.

The thing with me, though, is I use all of my razors for head shaving, so I haven't come across many people that have tried a bunch of AC razors like yourself that also head shave. I am still trying to figure out what aggression level suits me best. I think something between medium and aggressive is what suits me best and a mild but efficient razor still takes too long to clean up the stubble in my harder areas such as the back of my head, back top sides of head. I usually have to do a lot of passes in those areas. I am still taking a very hard look at the Alpha Spirit SE, though, and you opinion may have swayed me to give a shot next.

After reading your posts elsewhere I see you only head shave.
I used the Paradigm SE earlier this week on my noggin and fail to see how a SE is any good for the head?
Far too wide a blade, or have I got a particularly round (fat) head..?

I guess it depends on the diameter of your head.
