Feather 1500

Hullo Gents

When I was a kid, the saying went the Japanese imitated everything, possibly with improvements. Therefore it was a matter of time before I found a Japanese slanted razor. In this ase we're talking about a diagonal, but not quite.
The Feather 1500 reminds a lot of the Mulcuto diagonal razor. Similar grip, just about the same topcap. The baseplate however is rather different. In a sense, it is a Mulcuto with the head placed straight instead of slanted.
Another thing is the box. This razor can be found with plastic case, but a nice box like this is not as prevalent. The plastic ones have nailclippers though.
This razor is very mild. You can rake whatever you want, doesn't matter. It also has only one working shavingangle. Ride the topcap, let the humpback guide you (forcing you into a Gilletteslide, the only reason I call this a diagonal) and it will shave. Miss that angle by a fractoin and all you do is wipe lather.
A razor to improve my technique. Nice.

Nice find indeed! So it’s only the top cap that makes for a slant effect when ridden, thanks to the hump, whereas the baseplate is straight?

Could J-hooking possibly amp up efficiency? (Gillette slide is skewed blade but straight stroke, right?)

Extreme sharpness is ephemeral!
I come across a few unusual DE Japanese razors when looking for straight razors, I've been tempted a few times to purchase a couple of vintage Feather DE razors from Japan.

I've now tried it with Voskhod and with Feather. Featherblades and I don't match, even in a mild razor like this I get some irritation and managed to cut myself. With the Voskhod though and some carefull handling, not because of agression but because of really holding the one shavingangle, I get real nice shaves, Just not long enough lasting: it does not shave that deep.

Beautiful razor -- too bad the shave isn't up to the looks of the razor. Still it is a beautiful set. Congratulations!
